UOC Primate: through fasting, praying, and bonifying a human gets purified from evil

Evil destroys in the first line those who generate it, whereas a human being must live according to Commandments to invoke grace of the Holy Spirit. It was told by His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine during his sermon on the Holy Trinity Day in Kiev Pechersk Lavra. It is reported by the UOC Awareness-Raising Department.

“Each human as a supreme creature of God, His image, has a reflection of deity coming from the Holy Trinity. Thoughts, filled with love, mercy, tolerance, respect are attractive to God, while those which lurk evil, hatred, and pride are repelling to God,” the Primate noted. He also affirmed that a person who observes sacred God’s Commandments receives the Holy Spirit grace.”

“If we are overwhelmed with evil, hatred, and pride – it means God’s image is damaged in us. For our mind to bear kind thoughts, good intentions, and not bear evil that destroys in the first line those who generate it, the Holy Scriptures teach us to pray, fast and make good deeds,” the Primate expounded.

According to His Beatitude Onufriy, namely through “fasting, praying, and bonifying a human gets purified from evil thoughts and tunes up his/her life with the divine laws.”
