Romfea news agency: real journalism can't take place at the Council
The influential Orthodox Romfea news agency has decided to leave the Council and not cover it because of the extremely limited reporting, unreasonable security measures – a system where real journalism can't take place. This was stated by Emilios Polygeni, Director of the agency, reports byztex.blogspot.com.
“Security measures are very strict and there is no access to any area of developments. Even accredited photographers and journalists all you can do is ... to roam with a jaunty tag. The only people who have access are the official photographers of the Primates and all the others we are in Crete for public relations,” said Romfea’s Director.
According to Emilios Polygeni, information is given only with the dropper and through official channels of the organizing committee.” Filtered images and texts as if a club meets and is not entitled to any Orthodox to be aware of what is happening in Kolymbari,” he said.
To inform the public Romfea.gr will host the official announcements given by officers of the Holy and Great Council.
Recall that the Russian Orthodox Church refused to participate in the Holy and Great Council. Also the Antiochian, Bulgarian and Georgian Churches withdrew from the Council in Crete.
