In Nepal Christians arrested for distributing the Bible

In Katmandu the police arrested seven Christians for their having distributed 885 copies of the Bible to the schoolchildren in Dolakha district. It is reported by 316news.

The police are trying to make Christians sign a confession in distributing the Bible materials as a violation of the law and an obligation to never undertake it again, but they are refusing to do it. “The police treat them in a rude way as if they were gangsters, and keep them handcuffed. They do not respond to legal requirements and try to humiliate them in every way”, said one of the detainee’s relatives.

Among the arrested are two school directors and five members of the Christian Educational Organization Teach Nepal. The arrested Christians are accused of attempts to proselytize children in the country where most people confess Hinduism, with proselytism having been prohibited since 2015.

Radical hinduist organizations of Nepal demand that all Christian missioners leave the country, accusing them of “corrupting the nation”. “From now on, “Hindu Morcha Nepal” movement proclaims Nepal to be the country free from Christianity. All Christian religious leaders are warned to depart Nepal, while all Christian proselytes are recommended to return to their roots”, report extremists in their leaflets.

It will be recalled that Nepal’s Christians continually protest against the law of 2015, used to oppress freedom of faith and fight with burgeoning Christianity countrywide.
