Primate of the UOC: a transformed man loves his enemies, prays for those who curse and does not envy the successful
The path that leads to joy, peace and light is a path of transformation through the fulfillment of God's law. This was said by Metropolitan Onuphry on the Day of the Transfiguration of the Lord and Savior, when He revealed to men the glory of His Deity, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
Through His Transfiguration the Savior reminds us of the great mission that a person created in the image and likeness of God has. The Savior says," Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect". Paul continues, "I find it imitators, As al Christ". This is the path to which God calls on each person," said the Primate.
According to the Archpastor, following the law of God is the path that leads a person to likening the Lord. Anyone who goes this route eventually reaches spiritual perfection.
"And then God gives these people such a measure of love that they even love their enemies, and love not only with their mind, and with all their soul, with all their heart. They pray for those who curse, bless those who hate them. If a man falls, they feel sorry for him; they do not envy the successful and are happy as if they themselves had a success. This is the traits of a transformed man, the man who acquired likeness to God," concluded the Primate.
