Patriarchs of Jerusalem and Antioch meet at summit in Jordan

September 6, Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Patriarch John X of Antioch first met today in Jordan, at the Summit of the Heads of Churches in the Middle East, held in Amman, reports Romfea.

After an intense confrontation period in response to the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of Qatar both Primates participate in the meeting to address the problems of the Middle Eastern Christians.

The key role at the summit was played by Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria and Archbishop Chrysostom of Cyprus.
Notably, because of Qatar matter Patriarch John of Antioch did not participate in the work of the Holy and Great Council of Orthodox Churches, held this June in Crete.

Recall, the Orthodox Church of Antioch broke communion with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem because of the bitter dispute regarding the canonical jurisdiction of Qatar, which both Patriarchate consider part of their canonical territory.
