MP urges to legalize single-sex marriages, drugs and prostitution

Sergei Leshchenko, a Verkhovna Rada deputy and professor of the Journalism School of the Ukrainian Catholic University, believes that the next convocation of the Verkhovna Rada will pass a law on the legalization of single-sex marriages in Ukraine. In addition, the MP urges to legalize soft drugs and prostitution, reports Apologet.

"Of course, it will happen. The only question is when. This may be one of the conditions for Ukraine's integration into the European Union and the impetus for more discussion of the topic. Will it be in 2017? I do not know. Perhaps, the current Parliament will not adopt this law, but the next – definitely. If, of course, Ukraine will still be EU-oriented," said Sergei Leshchenko.

In addition, he supports the initiative on the legalization of soft drugs Ukraine: "Soft drugs are being currently decriminalized world-wide. It will be inevitable in Ukraine too, but the society is not ready to admit it. I would not support such a question at this stage, but it would advocate the introduction of punishment for manufacturers and distributors, rather than consumers. European countries have realized that the main threat is hard drugs. They bring more money, an increased turnover and more serious social consequences, so they gradually stopped fighting with marijuana, for example," Leshchenko said.

Among other things, Sergei Leshchenko urges Ukraine to legalize prostitution, calling the ban on prostitution "the fight against human nature." "Legalization will guarantee social protection for employed population, physical safety and increase the budget. Many countries have used it also as tourist bait. Ukrainians should not be more stupid than these countries. Prostitution is necessary to decriminalize and gradually legalize," says the MP.

People's deputy Leshchenko see absolutely no reason to discuss the aborting ban issue. "The prohibition of abortion is no longer on the present world agenda; it belongs to the last century. There is even nothing to discuss here," said Sergei Leshchenko.
