The dioceses of the UOC continue the tradition of aiding children with disabilities and the displaced

Volunteers of the Coordination Centre of the Odessa diocese has provided food and material assistance to displaced people, and in the Lugansk region Archbishop Nikodim of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk visited a rehabilitation center for disabled children, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

October 12, the Coordination Centre of the Odessa diocese for the collection and provision of humanitarian assistance held another charity event, during which more than 80 people, including internally displaced people from the east of Ukraine, the disabled and needy residents of Odessa received food assistance. Financial aid was also provided to low-income individuals and families in the amount of more than 30 thousand UAH.

As previously reported, for more than two years of its operation the Humanitarian Centre of the Odessa diocese collected and passed into the zone of the armed conflict more than 200 tons of food, medication, clothes and donated more than 3 million UAH on the medical treatment of Ukrainian citizens affected by the conflict and assistance to large families and the needy.

On the same day, the Archbishop Nikodim of Severodonetsk and Starobelsk held a special church service at the Centre for social rehabilitation of disabled children in the town of Kadievka (former Stakhanov). The Centre’s teaching staff and pupils lifted common prayer during the moleben. Finally, the bishop thanked for the warm welcome, blessed and wished everyone good health, peace, faith, and gave the children sweets.
