On Theophany the UOC Primate blesses Dnieper waters (VIDEO, PHOTO)

On Theophany Day, 19 January, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine sanctified the Dnieper waters in Obolon area of Kiev, near the Holy Intercession Cathedral, attended by numerous believers, as the UOJ correspondent reports.

The Primate, served by the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, conducted a rite of blessing the water and sank the cross into the river. Then the Metropolitan blessed all the attendees and aspersed everybody.

A special cross-shaped ice hole was designed as a font together with stairs to step into the water.

Kiev-based faithful had lavation in the ice-hole.
