Filaret’s prayers inspire Poroshenko to 'victory over the enemy"

Prayers of Primate Filaret of the UOC-KP give all encouragement to ensure our victory over the enemy, writes President Petro Poroshenko in his greeting message on the 88-th anniversary of Filaret on his Facebook page.

"It is deeply symbolic that His Holiness Patriarch Filaret, born in Donbass, in the now occupied village of Blagodatnoye of the Amvrosievka district, proudly bears the banner of Ukrainianness, cherishes the idea of an independent Ukrainian Church," said the head of the state.

"His prayers give all encouragement in maintaining national unity, ensuring our victory over the enemy," said Poroshenko.

As reported by the UOJ earlier, the diocese of Slaviansk and Gorlovka of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church issued a response to the statement of the head of UOC-KP Filaret, who said that the population of Donbass should atone for "the sin of the vote on the referendum for federalization" with sufferings and blood.
