Journalist: Filaret’s claims to the UOC property are dumb
Head of the UOC KP Filaret
The claims of head of the UOC-KP Filaret to the property of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are groundless, journalist Vasily Anisimov believes. This was told by the expert to RIA Novosti, commenting on the recent statements of the leader of the Kiev Patriarchate that the UOC cannot have any property in Ukraine.
"Filaret, excommunicated for numerous church crimes, can only dispose of the property that they, the schismatics themselves have procured, for example, the temple having been built somewhere – and no one claims it, by the way," Anisimov said.
According to the journalist, during the repressions in the Soviet era a significant part of the UOC property was alienated and it has not been returned to this day, although the authorities promised restitution.
"Each asset has its own history, it's a legal term, and everyone knows perfectly well that if your house is taken away and you were shot, then this house will be returned to your son later, but not to everyone who wants to receive it. And what on earth does autocephaly have to do with that? " noted the journalist.
According to Anisimov, Filaret's statements are completely absurd and ridiculous from a legal point of view.
Earlier, the head of the Kiev "patriarchate" already made a statement that the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras, which belong to the UOC, should be transferred to a new church structure, which Filaret himself plans to lead.
