Ukraine has a chance to build the Church of the XXI century, – theologian
Religious scholars Liudmila Filippovich and Igor Kozlovsky
Ukraine has a unique opportunity to build the Church of the XXI century, said Liudmila Filippovich, the head of the Department of the History of Religion and Practical Religious Studies of the G.S. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of NASU, at a press conference "The State of Religious Freedom in Ukraine" on September 13.
"Ukraine now has a unique chance to build a new model church, the Church of the XXI century," Filippovich said.
In her opinion, the future Church should not resemble "archaic, closed, monarchical structures that emerged in pre-modern and modern times".
"Which emerged in the Russian Empire," theologian Igor Kozlovsky, who also spoke at a press conference, added to his colleague.
Earlier Liudmila Filippovich stated that "new religious trends" are more effective than "impersonal" Orthodoxy and are a form of spiritual searches for the Ukrainian people.
