Head of UOC KP Filaret
On September 19, the leader of the Kiev Patriarchate Filaret delivered a lecture at the Atlantic Council (Washington, USA), reports the press service of the UOC KP.
"We are grateful to the USA for supporting the intention of Patriarch Bartholomew to grant the Tomos on autocephaly to us," Filaret said in his speech. "We hope that the US will help us see the church issue through."
The head of the UOC KP noted that what is happening in Ukraine concerns both Europe and the United States. Also, the leader of the UOC KP stated that the Tomos should be received this year before the presidential elections.
At the moment, Filaret is on a visit to the United States. The Embassy of Ukraine organized a reception of the "patriarchal" delegation and a meeting with the leaders of the Ukrainian community in Washington. Also, Filaret decorated the US senator, a lobbyist for gay marriages, with an order.
As the UOJ reported, the head of the ROC DECR Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk said that the American administration is behind the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine.
