Legoyda: Bedrock of canonical system of the Orthodox Church is ruined
Vladimir Legoyda
Vladimir Legoyda, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and Mass Media of the Moscow Patriarchate stated that Constantinople had attempted to "destroy the very foundations of the canonical system of the Orthodox Church."
In his opinion, the Phanar’s resolution to lift the anathema from the heads of the UOC KP and the UAOC is “an unprecedented anti-canonical act,” reports the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The head of the Synodal Department said that the official position of the Russian Orthodox Church regarding the Phanar’s actions will be announced after the Synod, which is planned to be held on October 15 in Belarus.
The decision to cancel the anathema laid on the head of the UOC KP with the consent of the Primates of all Local Churches was made by the Synod members of the Constantinople Patriarchate in response to the appeal submitted by Filaret to Patriarch Bartholomew.
