AP rep: "UOC showed that it goes further with Russia rather than Ukraine"

The Presidential Administration is dissatisfied with the behaviour of the UOC leadership
The Presidential Administration considers the UOC bishops' readiness to accept the President at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra but not to meet with him at the Ukrainian House as evidence of the pro-Russian model of the further church life of the UOC. This was said by an unnamed AP representative in an interview with the BBC.
"This is their choice. Thus, they showed that they go further not with Ukraine but with Russia,” the AP rep told the BBC News Ukraine. He also added that Petro Poroshenko had already had a telephone talk with Metropolitan Onufry about this, in which he criticized such behaviour of the UOC.
We recall that on November 13, 2018, the episcopate of the UOC was to meet with President Petro Poroshenko. However, the meeting did not take place.
At the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC was held, followed by the extraordinary meeting of the Bishops' Council, which made a number of important decisions regarding the current church situation.
