Greek media: Pat. Bartholomew and head of OCU may go to Athos after Easter
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko
Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew and “Metropolitan” Epiphany Dumenko, the head of the new “Ukrainian Church”, are planning a trip to Mt. Athos after Easter, reports the Greek site «ΒΗΜΑΤΟΣ ΟΡΘΟΔΟΞΙΑΣ». However, a joint trip is awaiting confirmation.
The trip will be preceded by a visit from another delegation of the schismatic church from April 5 to 9 “to prepare the ground for the visit of its primate and possibly Patriarch Bartholomew,” writes the publication. “Nevertheless, the atmosphere on Athos is very heavy regarding the Ukrainian issue, and it seems the Sacred Community doesn’t have the slightest inclination to recognize the new Ukrainian Church.”
As the UOJ reported, earlier it has become known about the forthcoming visit of representatives of the OCU to the Holy Mount. According to the Greek media, a delegation of 5 people headed by the “Metropolitan of Lutsk and Volyn” Mikhail Zinkevich is going to Athos “for the purposes of pilgrimage” and is planning to visit a number of Athos monasteries.
