On Holy Thursday Filaret comes to Parliament to back the law on language

Filaret is pleased with the adoption of the law on the Ukrainian language

On the morning of April 25, on Passion Thursday, when Divine Liturgy was celebrated in all Orthodox churches, Filaret provided spiritual support to deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, who passed the law on the Ukrainian language. This is reported by the resource Gazeta.ua.

At the exit from the Verkhovna Rada, Filaret appealed to activists who rallied in support of the adoption of the law and congratulated them on their victory.

“Dear brothers and sisters, I congratulate you on your victory! We have approved the Ukrainian language as a state language (it has been so since the beginning of the existence of the state of Ukraine – Ed.),” declared Filaret. “Ukraine should have its own state language. And no hostile forces will defeat us in this. We were oppressed for many centuries, Ukrainian was destroyed. But it is alive and will live forever.”

Also, the "Patriarch of Kiev and all of Russia-Ukraine" said he and his supporters were not only waiting for this victory, but also for the victory in the East. “And the victory will be ours, because the truth is with us, not with the aggressor,” Filaret stressed.
