The head of the UOC Representation to European International Organizations, the vicar of the Kiev Metropolis, Bishop Victor (Kotsaba) of Baryshevka invited believers to take part in the Great Cross Procession of the UOC, which will be held in Kiev on July 27, 2019 on the occasion of the 1031th anniversary of the Christianization of Rus. The bishop’s video message was posted on his YouTube channel.

“Every year, traditionally, faithful children of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church gather on July 27 in Kiev, here, on St. Vladimir Hill to thank the All-Merciful God and our Baptist and Enlightener, from where we all go to the cradle of Ukrainian Orthodoxy, the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra,” said the hierarch to the believers.

He stressed that “the procession is, above all, a prayer that unites thousands of Orthodox souls and hearts in a single prayerful zeal to God”, and invited all believers to join the procession with a prayer for peace in Ukraine.

“We will go and pray for our unity and understanding, step by step we will offer prayers for the peace and well-being of our people; we will lift our eyes up and beg the sky to descend to the ground!” said Father Victor, urging everyone to “make their own little and at the same time, a significant contribution to our common, God-enlightened future”.

As the UOJ reported earlier, on July 27, 2019, a Cross Procession of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on the occasion of the 1031st anniversary of the Christianization of Rus will be held in Kiev.

The UOJ will conduct live updates of the Cross Procession in Kiev.
