Sviatoslav Shevchuk: Ukraine won’t die while UGCC exists

No trials can defeat Ukraine while there is the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the UGCC information resource conveyed the words of the head of this religious organization, Sviatoslav Shevchuk.

According to Shevchuk, modern Ukrainians want to easily avoid the suffering of state-building.

“Ukrainians today want to so easily escape the suffering of state-building like a man who switches TV channels from a sad program to a funny one. But it never happens so in life,” he said.

However, despite all the difficulties, the UGCC will save Ukraine, Shevchuk believes. According to him, 30 years ago it became clear that the power of God acts in the body of this religious organization, which makes it possible not to stay out of troubles but to overcome them.

“Today we are facing, perhaps, even more difficult trials. But be sure, as long as Ukraine has the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the body of the transfigured and risen Christ, it will not die,” the head of the UGCC assured.

Shevchuk called his religious organization's coming-out of hiding as an anticipation of overthrow of the Soviet regime and “resurrection of the Ukrainian catholic and free independent state".

He previously stated that the UGCC Cathedral in Rome is the heart of the Ukrainian world.
