On September 5, 2019, at a meeting of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council, members of the council accused OOO “24/7 News” (“NewsOne” satellite TV channel) of “inciting ethnic, racial or religious enmity and hatred on the air ” and decided to apply to the court to revoke the license of this company. This decision was reported on the website of the National Council.
According to its chairman Olga Gerasimyuk, the TV channel will continue broadcasting until a court verdict is passed.
“We appeal to the court to make its decision, because, indeed, this is an extremely complex issue. And therefore, it also means that the channel does not stop broadcasting from today, it works. The court will make the final decision,” said Gerasimyuk.
At the same time, Ulyana Feshchuk, a member of the National Council, emphasized that such actions are the maximum sanction that the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council can apply by law, reports the Internet edition “Radio Liberty”.
According to this mass medium, all members of the National Council voted unanimously for the decision to file a lawsuit against “NewsOne”.
We recall that the “NewsOne” TV channel, in particular the journalist, TV presenter and publicist Viacheslav Pikhovshek and the authors of the television project “Radar”, systematically covered the seizures of the temples of the canonical Church by OCU activists and the “Orthodox bullying at schools”, as well as talked about pressure on the UOC and its parishioners.
Earlier, the Supervisory Board of the National Television and Radio Company of Ukraine dismissed the director of the National Television and Radio Company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania for the fact that the TV channel “UA: Pershyi” did not show the “cross procession” of the UOC-KP and UAOC.
