Deputies of the Rovno City Council recommended to ban Halloween advertising, which "provides for the transformation into all kinds of evil spirits: vampires, spirits, death, ghosts, etc." and have a negative impact on society, primarily on children and youth. It is reported by UA: Rіvne.
Such a decision was taken after a statement by the Rector of the Rovno Seminary of CEF (Christians of the Evangelical Faith) Alexander Tretyak, which, in his words, the heads of all Christian denominations of the city entrusted him to voice.
“In the advertising boards of the city there is an image of a girl with veins cut on her wrists and a bloodied face,” said Tretyak, referring to the Halloween advertisement placed by one of the shopping centres in Rovno. “We believe that this advertisement violates the Law "On Advertising", in particular Articles 7, 8 and 20. As representatives of various church institutions in our city, we believe that such advertising harms the residents of our city, especially children and youth, because this is, in fact, direct propaganda of suicide and violence.”
Tretyak called on the Rovno deputies to oblige those entities that distribute such advertising to take measures to “harmonize it with the law”. He also demanded to ban Halloween celebrations in the system of urban educational institutions and create a commission to monitor compliance with laws in the field of protection of public morality.
As a result, the deputies decided to recommend banning Halloween propaganda in Rovno, including outdoor advertising, as well as holding any events related to this "holiday" in educational institutions and cultural institutions of communal property. The decision was supported by 26 out of 28 deputies.
We recall that earlier the clergyman of the UOC explained that Halloween is not as harmless as it is positioned because this “holiday” is an expression of interest in evil spirits.
