The hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, believes that the list of ten bishops supporting the actions of Patriarch Bartholomew is a fiction, reports the outlet “Glavkom”.
According to the UOC Chancellor, the list of bishops supporting the autocephaly of the OCU was first announced by Patriarch Bartholomew at the talks in Istanbul.
“And when we said that we did not trust this information, we were immediately told that there were actually eight signatures. Just during the talk, they changed the number from 10 to eight,” said the Metropolitan.
According to him, the UOC does not even have 8 bishops who could betray the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and their oath.
“We don’t know who submitted these lists,” said the Metropolitan. “This question should be put to those who could at least show these lists. Perhaps, this was only the desire of some people who initiated this process.”
As reported by the UOJ, back in 2018, Metropolitan Anthony said that with the information on the “list of ten”, they intentionally wanted to create the false impression that the bishops of the UOC support autocephaly in Ukraine.
