UOC eparchies take part in the celebration of the Day of Unity of Ukraine

January 22, 2020, on the Day of Unity of Ukraine, leaders and clergy of a number of eparchies of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took part in state celebrations and performed thanksgiving prayers.

So, in Uzhgorod, the clergy of the Uzhgorod Holy Resurrection Monastery of the Mukachevo Eparchy took part in a festive procession with the flag of Ukraine and events dedicated to the Day of Unity of Ukraine.

With the blessing of Metropolitan Onuphry of Kharkov and Bogodukhov, the clergy of the Kharkov Eparchy laid flowers to the monument to T. G. Shevchenko in honor of the Unity Day of Ukraine.

In Dnepr, the holiday also began with the solemn laying of flowers at the monument to T. G. Shevchenko. The meeting was attended by the head of the Dnepropetrovsk Eparchy, Metropolitan Irinej, the vicar of the eparchy, Archbishop Eulogy and the local clergy.

According to the eparchy’s website, thanksgiving services were held in all churches to celebrate the holiday.

On January 22, with the blessing of Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail and at the invitation of the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Kutsyi, the vicar of the Odessa Eparchy, Archbishop Diodor of Yuzhnoye, and Archbishop Vladimir Terletsky, the rural dean of the Tairov Deanery, took part in the celebration of the Day of Unity of Ukraine at the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

Metropolitan Ephraim of Krivoy Rog and Nikopol participated in the solemn ceremony of laying flowers to the monument to T. G. Shevchenko in honor of the Unity Day.

As reported, commemorative events were held in the eparchies of the UOC on the day of memory of the Holodomor victims.
