During the discussion of amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised that the concepts of “father” and “mother” will not disappear in his country while he is in office.
“Marriage is a union of a man and a woman. The idea per se is correct (the one to enshrine in the Constitution a traditional understanding of family values – Ed.) and should be supported. As for ‘parent No 1’ and ‘parent No 2’, there will be no ‘parent 1’ and ‘parent 2’ but ‘father’ and ‘mother’ while I am the president,” he said during the broadcast of his meetings with the working group on Russia 24 channel.
Vladimir Legoyda, a spokesman of the Russian Orthodox Church, supported Putin's position.
“An important statement was made by the President. I hope that a proposal to define marriage as a union of a man and a woman will be introduced into the amendments to the Constitution,” Legoyda commented on the words of the President of Russia.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that in the Russian Federation 1.5 million rubles was raised for a boy from a poor family who did a good deed having paid for a young mother and her child in public transport. The woman he’d helped turned out to be a famous blogger.
