The MP of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Vadim Novinsky spoke about how, under conditions of the coronavirus quarantine, the Holy Fire can be brought to Ukraine from Jerusalem.
“Now we will most likely look for new avenues for this end. So far the situation looks like this: most likely, we will send the plane there. Employees of the Jerusalem Patriarchate or clergy will bring the Holy Fire to Tel Aviv Airport. They will bring it there to give it to airport workers who will pass the Holy Fire aboard the plane. And, if God willing, the sanctity will be with us in Ukraine,” Novinsky said on the air of Nash television channel.
He drew public attention to the fact that it is too early to make any forecasts about the celebration of Easter, since there is another month before Great Saturday, and the situation with the coronavirus is rapidly changing.
According to the politician, at the time of the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, restrictions will be most likely still valid, but the problem with the delivery of the Holy Fire to Ukraine can be solved without violating them.
“If there is goodwill, all issues can be resolved subject to all quarantine measures,” the Ukrainian MP said.
Earlier, the head of the Information and Education Department of the UOC, Metropolitan Clement (Vecheria) of Nezhin and Priluki noted that there will be no mass pilgrimage to Israel for Easter in 2020.
