The Head of the RCC, Pope Francis, in his Easter Urbi et Orbi Message to the city of Rome and the world called for an end to the suffering of the people living in the eastern regions of Ukraine, the Vatican News website reports.

The Head of the RCC noted that "now is not a time for division". He hopes that Christ will enlighten "those who are responsible for conflicts so that they have the courage to answer the call for a global and immediate ceasefire in all corners of the world."

He stressed that "this is not a time to continue to produce and sell weapons, criticizing the vast amounts of money spent on the arms trade which can be used to treat people and save lives."

The Pope expressed the hope that "this will be a time when the long war in Syria, the conflict in Yemen and the tense situation in Iraq, as well as in Lebanon, will finally be stopped."

He hoped that "Israelis and Palestinians might resume dialogue in order to find a sustainable and lasting solution that would allow both to live in peace."

The Head of the RCC also called for an end to "the suffering of the people living in the eastern regions of Ukraine" and an end to "terrorist attacks against many innocent people in different countries of Africa."

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Pope Francis considers the negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on the Donbas a positive step.
