SBU closes criminal case against director of “Spas” channel

On April 26, 2020, it became known that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) closed the criminal case initiated on December 27, 2019, against the Director-General of the “Spas” Orthodox TV channel Boris Korchevnikov, reports the online outlet "Crimea. Realities".

The criminal case against Korchevnikov who visited Crimea was initiated at the request of Sergei Sternenko, a Ukrainian nationalist, former head of the Odessa Right Sector, and on the basis of a court decision, as Sternenko said on his Facebook page.

The director of the “Spas” TV channel was accused of illegally crossing the borders of Ukraine.

SBU spokeswoman Yelena Gitlianskaya said that the criminal case against Korchevnikov was closed on the basis of Paragraph 2 of Article 284 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine. According to this article, a criminal case is closed if it is established that there is no criminal offense in the act.
