The famous Athenian weekly newspaper Ορθόδοξη Αλήθεια (Orthodox Truth - Ed.), which will go on sale on April 29, 2020, states that in the period of the coronavirus epidemic, Orthodoxy has been subject to persecution in Greece, reports Romfea.

The front-page story of tomorrow’s newspaper is called “Orthodoxy in Persecution!” and reports about folk rage over the manipulations and hypocrisy of the Greek government, which does not allow the opening of churches but okeys mobile concerts.

The publishers also believe that the government’s package of measures against the coronavirus also contained a special action plan against the Church.

The publication draws attention to the "uprising" of the metropolitans who advocate the opening of churches and stand up against the position of Archbishop Ieronymos.

According to the publication, some hierarchs of the Church of Greece are ready to open temples even under the threat of arrest: “We ourselves will open the doors and allow the authorities to arrest us.”

There is also an interview in the newspaper with the “rebellious” priest Fr. Seraphim Dimitriou from the church of St. Marina of Ilioupoli, who stated that he let everyone, who would turn to him, receive the Holy Communion, and it’s now up to the authorities to come and arrest him.

"Orthodox Truth" is published in Athens by the "Democratic Press S.A." group and since February 2015 it has been released as a standalone publication on a weekly basis, every Wednesday.

As a church newspaper, its material contains news and messages about the life of the Church, church leaders, and memorable dates of the Church.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the Greek government announced when the temples of the Church of Greece would open.
