The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office announced that the Orthodox publicist Dmitry Skvortsov will appear before the court.
The Telegram channel of the Prosecutor’s Office reports that an indictment of high treason for conducting information and subversive activities against Ukraine by Dmitry Skvortsov (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) was sent to the court.
According to the investigation, even "before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the accused began to actively help the aggressor country in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine".
The Prosecutor’s Office writes that “in order to fulfil the tasks of curators from the Russian Federation, a man prepared and sent for publication articles in which he expressed pro-Russian views. These publications were posted on Russian websites, actively dispersed by propagandists on the Internet and social networks, and were available to an unlimited number of users.”
The Prosecutor's Office claims that, according to experts, Skvortsov's publications "contained information aimed at inciting national, interethnic, social enmity and hatred, causing discord between the army and the people, negatively influenced public opinion, contributed to the spread of Russian propaganda in Ukraine and threatened national security in the information field, being an integral part of subversive activities”.
The SBU detained Dmitry Skvortsov on February 19. Now he faces 12 to 15 years in prison.
As reported, the SBU arrested a journalist who wrote about the Church.
