A new mosque will uniquely complement the beauty of Kyiv, assured Yağmur Ahmet Güldere, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine.

"Kyiv has a very beautiful landscape, it is a very beautiful city, and I am absolutely convinced that this project will bring a special, unique air to the beauty of the city, its rich outlines and appearance," Mr. Guldere told the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.

The ambassador said that the land issue has already been largely resolved, and now the design of the future mosque is being actively discussed. “Once the design is approved, the approval procedures for the project will be launched,” he said and promised that details of the future construction would be revealed in the coming months.

“For the time being, it's worth focusing on design. When this work is done, formal approval procedures will begin and then it will be known where it will be located. So far I can say it is planned to be erected in the center of the capital. Hopefully, more details will be given in the coming months,” Mr. Güldere said.

Earlier it became known that a mosque for 5,000 people is supposed to appear in the center of Kyiv. Later, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said there had already been allocated a land plot for the construction of the mosque, while the Crimean Tatars are expected to come up with an architectural project.
