On April 27, 2023, the deputies of the Chernivtsi City Council unanimously decided to deprive 22 communities of the UOC of the use of land plots, Suspilne Chernivtsi reports.
The resource reports that it concerns, in particular, we the main Cathedral, the Nicholas Church, the Horecha Monastery and other objects.
The mayor of Chernivtsi Roman Klichuk said on his Facebook page that "this is a logical and correct step." He added, “I believe that our actions will become an incentive to move into Ukrainian churches. Let's liberate Ukraine from invaders on all fronts! Only in this way will we become free!”
Earlier, the UOJ wrote that according to the Lavra's lawyer, Fr. Nikita Chekman, the actions of the authorities to deprive the UOC of land plots are illegal, do not entail any legal implications and contain signs of a criminal offense.
