The UOC described as fakes the statements of Ukrainian Culture and Information Policy Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko about the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which he made in an interview with nv.ua.
The UOC press service said that Tkachenko voiced a number of fakes without citing a single fact to back up his words.
"In particular, to the presenter's remark that the monastery did not receive a document from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Reserve, through which the agreement of gratuitous use of the Lower Lavra was terminated, Tkachenko replied that such a document had allegedly been sent, calling it a ‘letter’. However, the minister did not bother to clarify on what basis such a letter had been formed and whether there were any professional conclusions regarding the allegations that the Ministry of Culture voiced in the ‘letter’. At present, representatives of the ministry themselves said that the examination of the condition of the Lavra monuments has not been completed and will continue until May 15. Therefore, the information in the ‘letter’ of the Ministry of Culture has no expert confirmation, and the signatory of this ‘letter’ committed actions that can be qualified in the categories of the Criminal Code regarding arbitrariness and abuse of power," said the press service.
"The next fake of the minister was his statement about the alleged ‘indecent use of certain buildings, which were handed over to the management of the metropolis, the monastery", recorded by members of the commission on the acceptance-transfer of state property of the National Reserve ‘Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra’. Perhaps, these statements by Tkachenko are explained by the fact that the minister does not monitor the results of his subordinates, who have repeatedly in interviews stated about the extremely professional maintenance of a number of structures they inspected," says the message.
As reported, the Ministry of Culture denied the words of its minister about the Lavra's emergency building.
