The Council of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church urged world institutions to stop the persecution of the UOC and its believers in Ukraine. A statement to this effect was published on the SOC website following the Holy Council of the Church.

In particular, the Bishops' Council "paid special attention to the topic of the suffering of the UOC caused by the actions of the Ukrainian authorities".

The SOC also noted that persecution of the UOC "violates the fundamental rights and freedom of believers guaranteed by international conventions".

"The Synod also paid attention to the spiritual and geopolitical consequences of the armed conflict in Ukraine. The suffering of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church caused by the current authorities in Kyiv, including the confiscation of its property, temples, and monasteries, the displacement of monks, the persecution of certain hierarchs, and the violation of basic human rights and freedoms guaranteed by international conventions, was particularly discussed.," said the SOC press service.

As reported, a bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church said that the Ukrainian authorities are supporting a non-existent "church".
