On May 24, 2023, the executive committee of the Ternopil City Council supported a petition urging to break all the lease contracts with the UOC, reports the press service of the City Council.
The City Council said that the executive committee backed the petition, which "received over 300 votes in a timely manner".
At the same time, the local authorities recommended that the city state agencies "consider the possibility of terminating contracts" with the UOC.
"In the decision, taking into account the fact of terminating the right of permanent use of the land plot for the Office of the Ternopil Eparchy of the UOC, it recommended that municipal enterprises, institutions and organizations consider the possibility of breaking contracts in the order established by law," the City Council reports.
Earlier, the Ternopil City Council confiscated from the UOC the land under the cathedral and the Office of the Ternopil Eparchy of the UOC.
