The Special Envoy of the Pope, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, who visited Ukraine on June 5-6 with a "peace mission", said that he now plans to travel to the Russian Federation, dw.com reports.
According to the cardinal, during the visit he intends to hold talks with representatives of the Russian government and the Russian Orthodox Church.
At the same time, Zuppi said that the war in Ukraine should end with a “just peace”: “There can be no peace without justice. Without justice, peace will not last long, that would be risky. There must be peace and justice."
The representative of the Pope did not name the exact date of his visit to Moscow.
As the UOJ wrote, in Kyiv, Matteo Zuppi met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who called on the Vatican "to contribute to the implementation of the Ukrainian peace plan."
The Kremlin reported that the meeting of the pontiff’s envoy with Vladimir Putin was not scheduled in the near future.
