Member of the Polish Parliament Yevgeny Chikvin was elected president of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy (IAO) instead of State Duma deputy Sergei Gavrilov, a source in the IAO told tass.ru.

The XXX General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy was held from June 29 to July 2 in Greece, while delegations from Russia, Belarus and Syria were not allowed to attend the meeting of the XXX General Assembly of the IAO in Greece due to pressure from Ukraine and the United States.

“Delegations from Russia, Belarus and Syria were not allowed to the last meeting of the General Assembly of the IAP, which was prepared by the Greek side under pressure from Ukraine, supported by American diplomats and loyal media. During the General Assembly, a deputy of the Polish parliament Yevgeny Chikvin was elected to the post of president of the IAO,” the source said.

As the UOJ reported earlier, the ex-deputy of the Seimas of Poland said that taking the Lavra away from the UOC is unthinkable.
