Law enforcers sent to the court an indictment against the former deputy of the Kyiv Council from the "European Solidarity" party Yaryna Aryeva on the fact of committing a road accident with serious consequences in a state of drug intoxication (part 2 of article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), reports the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The accident with the participation of Aryeva occurred on 27 November 2022.
"According to the materials of the investigation, the suspect, driving a car brand Volkswagen Polo in a state of drug intoxication, moved along S. Bandera Avenue in the direction of Bohatyrska Street,” the Prosecutor's Office noted. “Approaching an unregulated pedestrian crossing, the driver was unable to assess the change in traffic conditions and hit a woman pedestrian, causing her serious bodily injury. According to expert conclusions, the cause of the accident was the suspect's violation of traffic regulations.”
The sanction of the article provides from 3 to 8 years of imprisonment.
As reported, the court initially chose a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest from 20:00 to 6:00, and then at the request of the Prosecutor's Office sent her to round-the-clock house arrest.
Yaryna Aryeva took part in the anti-church rallies near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and administered social media groups where "activists" coordinated their activities against the UOC. With her assistance, the European Solidarity office opposite the monastery became the unofficial headquarters of the rally participants.
Yaryna's father, Verkhovna Rada MP Volodymyr Aryev from “Eurosolidarity”, said that investigators and prosecutors were allegedly under the influence of the Moscow Patriarchate and were therefore trying to "discredit" the girl.
