The cross procession to St Vladimir’s Monastery in the village Kolinkivtsi, Chernivtsi region, which traditionally is held by the UOC on the eve of the memory of St. Prince Vladimir, will not be held this year, reports the press service of the Chernivtsi - Bukovyna Eparchy.

The decision on the cancellation of the procession was made by the head of the eparchy, Metropolitan Meletii, in connection with the restrictions imposed by the authorities.

"Given the inadmissibility of violations of Article 19 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the legal regime of martial law’, as well as the decision of the Defence Council of the Chernivtsi region of 12 August 2022 in terms of the prohibition of strikes, mass meetings and actions, including the prohibition of religious processions on the territory of the Chernivtsi region, Metropolitan Meletii of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna does not bless the holding of a cross procession from Chernivtsi to the village of Kolinkivtsi to commemorate the memory of St. Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir," says the eparchy’s press service.

As reported, the authorities of Khmelnytskyi and Vinnytsia regions banned traditional processions of the UOC believers to Pochaiv Lavra.
