The hierarchs of the Cypriot Orthodox Church oppose the papal decision-making system and do not recognize the deeds of their primate, who for the first time made a liturgical mention of the head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, during the Divine Liturgy on October 24, 2020. This is reported by the Greek resource Romfea.

According to the publication, Metropolitan Athanasios of Limassol "could not believe his ears" when he heard the name of the head of the Ukrainian schismatics.

The bishop immediately left the church, without waiting for the end of the divine service and the episcopal consecration, “in protest against this sole decision of Archbishop Chrysostomos.”

Another metropolitan of the Church of Cyprus, whose name has not been named, said in a commentary to the publication that the Cypriot hierarchs are against the papal decision-making system and do not recognize this act of their primate.

As reported by the UOJ, on October 24, 2020, Archbishop Chrysostomos II commemorated the name of the head of the OCU for the first time during the Divine Liturgy. The Primate of the Cyprus Church took this step without the consent of the Holy Synod.
