Volodymyr Trush, the Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration, stated that the UOC has been prohibited from conducting a cross procession across the Ternopil region to the Pochaiv Lavra from 19-28 August.

He shared this information on his Telegram channel.

During these days, Orthodox believers celebrate the Transfiguration of the Lord and the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.

"Today, the regional Defence Council heard military and law enforcers about possible provocations during the procession of believers to the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra from 19 to 28 August," Trush wrote. "The Defence Council has made the decision to prohibit the procession of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the Pochaiv Lavra."

The regional Defence Council decided to prohibit the cross procession based on recommendations from the National Guard, SBU, and the military commissioner.

"I urge law enforcement to take necessary responsive measures to prevent mass gatherings organized by UOC supporters," he added.

As previously reported, Khmelnytskyi region authorities have also prohibited the religious procession to the Pochaiv Lavra.
