On 15 September 2023, the court refused to grant the Zaporizhzhia Eparchy's request to annul the decision of the Zaporizhzhia City Council to sever relations with the UOC, reports the press service of the City Council.
In its lawsuit, the Zaporizhzhia Eparchy asked to recognise as illegal and cancel the decision of the City Council of 12 July, according to which all utility contracts between the UOC and the city should be terminated.
The City Council also believes that the decision to terminate relations with the UOC "was made in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine", and therefore objected to the claim in full in court.
As reported, Zaporizhzhya City Council deputies favoured the termination of utility contracts with the UOC.
