On September 22, 2023, Catholic hierarchs and several hundred Catholics held the "All-Ukrainian Cross Procession" in Sharhorod, as reported on the official website of the RCC in Ukraine.
In addition to Catholic Bishop Leon Dubravsky and Bishop Oleksander Yazlovetsky, representatives of Sharhorod and Vinnytsia regional authorities took part in the event.
Catholic monks, parishioners of the Sharhorod RCC parish and several hundred pilgrims also participated in the religious procession.
As earlier reported, the Council of Defence of Khmelnytskyi region banned mass religious events, including the traditional cross procession to Pochaiv, from August 19 to August 25, 2023.
Later on, law enforcers blocked UOC pilgrims from entering the Khmelnytskyi region, preventing them from participating in the cross procession to the Pochaiv Lavra.
The Mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Mykhailo Positko, declared the "inadmissibility" of holding the cross procession in Pochaiv during an extended session of the city council. As a result, the police and SBU expelled UOC pilgrims from the Khmelnytskyi region.
