Italy and Ukraine have signed an agreement to reconstruct the Transfiguration Cathedral of the UOC in Odesa, which was destroyed by a missile strike in July 2023. The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, announced this agreement before the meeting of the European Council of Ministers in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.

Tajani stated that the best Italian architects will be involved in the reconstruction of the cathedral.

“Today Italy signed an agreement on the restoration of the Odessa Cathedral. Italy will work on reconstruction. <…> This is a clear cultural and political message for Ukraine,” Tajani noted.

It will be reminded that the destruction of the UOC cathedral in Odesa was caused by a rocket strike.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Vadym Novynskyi announced his donation of at least 1 million dollars towards the restoration of the cathedral in Odesa.
