On January 3, 2021, Mike Pompeo, head of the US State Department, said that he made sure that the United States of America supported international recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine. Pompeo wrote about this in his Twitter account.

According to him, he "took action on lots of fronts with Russia, including freedom of religion."

“I made sure the U.S. supported international recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, helped the Metropolitan (Epiphany Dumenko - Ed.) escape Russian influence,” Pompeo wrote.

Twitter users, commenting on this message of Mike Pompeo, believe that his position is “not religious freedom,” but “the Orthodox Church is one and should remain United,” since “it is not good for the stability in the region for the Orthodoxy to be split,” and “this will be exploited by Turkey.”

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Joe Biden wrote a letter to Patriarch Bartholomew, in which he expressed his hope for close cooperation with the head of Phanar.
