UOC prays for the repose of seniors who died in a nursing home in Kharkiv

On January 22, at the Ascension Cathedral of the Izium Eparchy of the UOC, a panikhida was served for 15 residents of the “Zolotoe Vremia” (“Golden Time”) private nursing home who died in a fire in Kharkiv, reports the eparchy’s website.

“His Eminence Yelisey (head of the Izium Eparchy of the UOC – Ed.) lifts up his prayers to God that the All-Merciful Lord will forgive them every sin and repose their souls in the places of the righteous, and wishes a speedy recovery to those who survived this catastrophe,” says the message of the eparchy.

The Metropolitan also expressed his words of support to the Secretary of the Kharkiv City Council Igor Terekhov.

According to media reports, the tragedy occurred on the afternoon of January 21 in Kharkiv in a 2-storey private boarding house for the elderly “Zolotoe Vremya” (“Golden Time”), where 15 people died due to a fire, and 9 more victims were hospitalized.

As reported, on November 28, 2020, the UOC commemorated Holodomor victims.
