UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk criticised a bill that threatens religious freedom in Ukraine, reports “Strana”.
"I have noted my concern about religious freedom in Ukraine, given the ongoing actions of the authorities against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The bill proposes a ban on religious organisations affiliated with the Russian Federation. This bill does not comply with international legislation on the protection of human rights," he said.
As reported, the US journal “Foreign Policy” published an article by Nicolai N. Petro, a professor of political science at the University of Rhode Island, criticising the actions of the Ukrainian authorities towards citizens under the title "Ukraine Has a Civil Rights Problem". The author describes what repressions against the UOC could lead to.
