MP Artem Dmytruk commented on his Telegram channel on the situation that law enforcers have closed more than 20 cases against "activists" who staged provocations and committed offences near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

He emphasised that these people "disrupted the prayer standing, mocked believers, trampled on icons and attacked Lavra parishioners and clergy".

"I would like to remind you that all these criminal proceedings were opened at the request of the court after the police refused to initiate them. And miraculously, a few weeks later, they were reportedly closed," Dmytruk writes.

He announced his intention to send parliamentary enquiries to law enforcers to "find out whether the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in our state is so shattered that even court decisions are now worthless."

According to him, this is "a mockery of the judicial system."

"It has long been clear that today there is a system in the state under which millions of Ukrainians cannot freely practise their religion without fear and threats. And our task with you is to destroy this vile phenomenon, which cannot be tolerated in a democratic state that seeks to become part of the European society," said the MP.

As reported, the police closed all cases against the "activists" under the Lavra.
