Сourt expands participation of monks in case on use of Upper Lavra temples

On 7 February 2024, the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal of Kyiv decided to expand the participation of the monks of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in the consideration of the monastery's appeal on the right to use the Dormition Cathedral and the Refectory Church of Sts. Anthony and Theodosius of the Caves, reports the Lavra's lawyer Archpriest Nikita Chekman on his Telegram channel.
"After heated discussions, the court made a reasonable decision: it agreed to additionally admit the monks as third parties," said Father Nikita. “Besides, it is significant that the court exempted one monk from paying the court fee and also opened proceedings on the appeal of another monk."
As reported, on 13 June 2023, the Kyiv Commercial Court refused to satisfy the lawsuit of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra against the National Reserve to remove obstacles to the use of the Upper Lavra temples. The monastery appealed this decision to the Northern Commercial Court of Appeal.
On 6 December 2023, the Court of Appeal admitted the Lavra monks as third parties to the case.
