Bill No 8371 aimed at banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is being prepared for adoption in the second reading, will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada Committee for Humanitarian and Information Policy on 5 March 2024, reports the head of the Committee, an MP from the "Servant of the people" party, Mykyta Poturaev, in a comment on holka.org.ua.
"There was an initiative from my colleagues from the ‘European Solidarity’ so that we together finalised certain points,” said the MP. “We have been working for about two weeks, we have a fully prepared text for consideration in the committee, and we have a full consensus on this document".
Poturaev boasted that a "very powerful text" of the bill was prepared for the second reading.
"This is the case when we are not ashamed of our joint work," the deputy believes.
"Lobbyists of the Moscow priests will try to discredit the law abroad, but it will go to the Parliament," Poturaev assured.
As reported, according to media reports, Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada "not to delay the final decision on the church issue".
