On April 23, 2021, the Kyiv City Council adopted special requirements for holding religious events during Palm Sunday and Easter celebrations, reports the press service of the Kyiv City Council.

During a meeting of the city headquarters for the elimination of the consequences of emergency situations, it was decided to recommend to religious organizations to provide broadcasting of services on Ukrainian TV channels and via the Internet.

The Kyiv City Council believes that the leaders of churches and religious organizations should guide parishioners to refrain from visiting churches on Palm Sunday and Easter.

Those parishioners who come to churches must wear protective masks, and believers with signs of acute respiratory diseases must not be allowed to worship.

In addition, before the divine services, it is necessary to check the health of the clergy, and in religious buildings before and after the services – ventilation and disinfection.

The Kyiv Council decided that “the number of visitors to services should be limited at the rate of one person per 10 sq. meters of a building or premises ", and "if a religious event is held outdoors, a distance of 1.5 meters must be maintained between those present (except for members of the same family living together)."

Also, according to the decision, churches and religious organizations should have volunteers from among the parishioners who will monitor the organization for compliance with anti-epidemic standards.

Volunteers should have masks at the rate of 1 mask for 3 hours of work and antiseptics, and they should know what to do with used masks and wipes.

Hand disinfection stations should be located at the entrance to church buildings, and no crowds should be allowed.

The veneration of shrines (the Cross, icons, holy relics) is recommended to be done through worship, without kissing.

Consecration of Easter baskets should be carried out by churches only outside the church, observing a distance of at least 1.5 m between parishioners. The territory must be marked to maintain safe sanitary distances.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Viktor Liashko voiced the recommendations of the Ministry of Health for religious organizations regarding the upcoming Easter holidays.
