Tomorrow, March 21, 2024, at 11 o'clock, a motion by the investigator for the arrest of seized property belonging to the UOC priest, Father Sergiy Chertylin, will be considered by the Solomyanka District Court of Kyiv, particularly concerning the funds of UAH 200,000 for the purchase of a vehicle for the military. This was reported by the lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, in his Telegram channel on March 20.
The lawyer explained that the money was confiscated during a search of Fr Sergiy's car. The priest warned law enforcement that the seized funds had been collected to purchase transportation for the evacuation of wounded soldiers. The action was carried out in cooperation with the charitable foundation of Ukraine's defenders named after Petro Kalnyshevsky.
"At tomorrow's court hearing, the defense will prove that these funds have no relation to any other activity and are intended solely for the purchase of a vehicle," said Father Nikita. "I hope for a fair judicial decision because our defenders need this transportation."
As reported by the UOJ, the court remanded Father Sergiy Chertylin in custody for two months.
